Jack Hyman, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer & Founder

Jack Hyman is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of HyerTek and is frequently sought out for the most complex, high-risk technology initiatives—where deep technical insight, executive judgment, and mission accountability must coexist. With more than 20 years of experience, he has led large-scale transformation efforts for federal agencies and Fortune 500 organizations operating in highly regulated environments.

Over the course of his career, Jack has led or advised 100+ enterprise and government transformation initiatives, supporting a significant portion of the Fortune 100, major financial institutions, healthcare payers, insurers, and civilian and defense agencies. His work consistently centers on modernizing legacy systems, integrating complex enterprise platforms, and resolving technically challenging, mission-critical problems while delivering measurable operational and cost efficiencies.

Prior to founding HyerTek, Jack held senior leadership and technical roles at IBM, Oracle, and SRA International (now General Dynamics). In these roles, he led multidisciplinary teams across mission-critical programs spanning financial services, healthcare, defense, intelligence, and public sector operations—often serving as the technical and strategic authority on initiatives where failure was not an option.

In addition to his executive leadership, Jack is a best-selling author and educator with a global professional audience. He has authored multiple best-selling technology books published by Wiley, including Power BI For Dummies (1st and 2nd Editions), Power Platform For Dummies, Data Analytics & Visualization For Dummies, Azure For Dummies (2nd Edition), and Tableau For Dummies. His books are widely used by professionals, educators, and organizations to translate complex data, analytics, and enterprise technology concepts into practical, real-world understanding.

Jack has spent nearly two decades in higher education, teaching more than 5,000 students at the undergraduate through doctoral level. His teaching spans enterprise systems, data analytics, blockchain development, information security, cloud computing, human-computer interaction, and educational technology, reflecting a rare blend of theoretical depth and applied expertise.

He holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Arts in Education & Human Development from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from The American University. Jack resides in Maryland with his wife, Debbie, and their children, Jeremy and Emily.

Muthu Vellayan
Chief Technology Officer

Muthu Vellayan serves as Chief Technology Officer at HyerTek, where he leads the company’s technology vision and advances its capabilities in artificial intelligence, enterprise application transformation, and strategic technical advisory services. He works with clients and HyerTek teams to translate emerging technologies into secure, practical solutions that improve mission outcomes and create measurable organizational value.

Muthu brings extensive experience delivering complex technology initiatives across defense, federal, and commercial organizations. Before joining HyerTek, he led AI and machine learning transformation initiatives at Peraton in support of U.S. Strategic Command. His work included identifying and prioritizing more than 100 mission-aligned AI use cases, establishing cross-functional implementation teams, advancing AI governance, and helping users understand where emerging technologies could improve the way they work. He also led AI and data proficiency programs and authored recurring technology trend reports to help senior leaders evaluate new capabilities and shape adoption strategies.

Previously, Muthu served as a senior data scientist supporting the U.S. Space Force and held technology leadership roles at DXC Technology and Accenture Federal Services. Throughout his career, he has led enterprise cloud, DevSecOps, application modernization, product development, and large-scale transformation initiatives. His experience includes guiding multidisciplinary teams, developing secure cloud and continuous delivery frameworks, advising federal organizations on modernization strategies, and helping grow a professional services engagement from an initial $23 million award to more than $50 million.

As CTO, Muthu brings a pragmatic approach to innovation—connecting technology investments to mission and business priorities while addressing governance, security, implementation, and organizational adoption. His technical expertise spans generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, data science, commercial and secure cloud environments, DevSecOps, and emerging large language model architectures.

Muthu holds a Master of Science in Operations Research and a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Systems from The George Washington University. He also holds AWS and Microsoft Azure certifications.

Mikenzie Howard
VP, Client Delivery & Growth

Mikenzie Howard leads Client Delivery & Growth at HyerTek, bringing more than a decade of experience spanning intelligence analysis, strategic communications, and program management across federal agencies in high-stakes, mission-driven environments. She is trusted to build and scale delivery operations that drive consistent, high-impact outcomes for HyerTek’s federal clients.

In her role, Mikenzie oversees client engagements from mobilization through execution, ensuring delivery teams are aligned, accountable, and positioned to exceed expectations. She manages cross-functional coordination, cultivates partner relationships, and maintains the operational tempo required to deliver measurable results across complex federal programs.Mikenzie’s career is defined by her ability to bridge strategic vision and operational execution. Before joining HyerTek, she spent more than a decade serving the Department of Homeland Security across multiple capacities — from leading the terrorism intelligence portfolio for the State of California and helping architect the nation's first statewide Countering Violent Extremism initiative, to overseeing nationally recognized public awareness campaigns as Senior Director at DCG Communications.

At HyerTek, Mikenzie applies this mission-first perspective to client delivery and strategic growth, leveraging her federal and industry partnerships to ensure every engagement reflects the rigor and reliability HyerTek’s clients expect.

She holds dual Master’s degrees from Boston University in International Relations and International Public Relations.

Rebecca Richey
Director, Contracts & Compliance

Rebecca Richey serves as Director of Contracts & Compliance at HyerTek, where she oversees the company’s contract portfolio, administrative and human resources operations, and corporate compliance initiatives. She leads HyerTek’s Facility Security Officer (FSO), ISO, and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) efforts, helping ensure the organization meets the rigorous contractual, regulatory, security, and operational requirements of the federal marketplace.

Rebecca brings nearly two decades of experience spanning government contracting, corporate compliance, industrial security, and organizational operations. Throughout her career, she has managed complex prime contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, and joint ventures; advised executive teams on FAR and DFARS requirements; and led compliance programs involving CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, classified facilities, export controls, and information security. Her experience includes administering portfolios of more than 200 government and education contracts valued at approximately $250 million annually.

Before joining HyerTek, Rebecca held leadership positions with District Communications Group, Avantor Sciences, NuSil Technology, and Raytheon. She also served as a security and intelligence officer in the U.S. Army, supporting Naval Special Warfare and other defense organizations.

Rebecca holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Foundational Certificate in Contract Management from Duke University. She is recognized for her disciplined execution, practical problem-solving, and ability to build effective compliance programs in complex, high-accountability environments.

Beth Van Gelder
Fractional Chief Financial Officer

Beth Van Gelder supports HyerTek’s finance operations, providing strategic expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, indirect-rate management, and FAR/CAS compliance. She helps strengthen financial processes and reporting while giving HyerTek’s leadership timely insights to guide growth, manage risk, and make informed business decisions.

Beth brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, business transformation, and government contracting. Before supporting HyerTek, she held senior leadership roles at DAI, Vencore, bluemercury, and Lockheed Martin, where she led complex financial planning, reporting, systems-modernization, and process-improvement initiatives. Beth holds an MBA in Strategy from NYU’s Stern School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Politics from Penn State University.
